Scott Hanson ‘93
Scott Hanson is a Syracuse University alum best known as the host of NFL RedZone. A seasoned sports broadcaster, he delivers fast-paced, whip-around coverage of every touchdown and key moment from Sunday’s NFL games. Hanson, who graduated from Syracuse’s prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, has built a reputation for his high-energy delivery and in-depth football knowledge.

How did your experiences at SU shape your career?
My experience at SU… learning next to my very ambitious Newhouse classmates - while playing football - prepared me for a life of competition and instilled in me a confidence that success could be attained with attention to detail and hard work.
What was your first job after college?
First job after college was weekend sports anchor at WPBN-TV… the NBC affiliate in Traverse City, MI. (Made $15,000 that year!)
What has been a major highlight of your career thus far?
A highlight of my career has been hosting NFL RedZone for 16 seasons. I’ve also been blessed to go to 18 Super Bowls.
How have you stayed connected to SU?
I stay connected to Syracuse through the sports teams and via social media. Proud of my time at SU!
What is your favorite memory of Syracuse University?
My favorite memory of SU was winning the Fiesta Bowl 1/1/93. Our Senior class finished 4-0 in Bowl Games, and we were ranked 6th in the country at the end of that season
